In Houghton Deanery we are going to gather for prayer and worship along with thousands of others around the world for the 9 days (traditionally called a Novena of prayer) between Ascension and Pentecost to bless our communities in Jesus\u2019 name. Will you join us as we visit each other’s churches and pledge to pray? See how many of the churches in our Deanery you can visit in the 9 days!<\/p>\n

Pledge to Pray with us<\/strong><\/p>\n

Please join us for our special services on Ascension Day and Pentecost Sunday. During the days between we will gather for prayer and then share lunch together at the times & churches outlined below \u2013 so bring a packed lunch!<\/p>\n

Thursday 25th<\/sup>\u00a0May at 7pm<\/u><\/strong> St. Barnabas Burnmoor, Deanery Ascension Day Eucharist<\/u><\/p>\n

Friday 26th<\/sup>\u00a0May at 11.30am<\/strong> St. Michael & All Angels Houghton<\/p>\n

Saturday 27th<\/sup>\u00a0May at 11.30am<\/strong> St. Aidan\u2019s Herrington<\/p>\n

Sunday 28th<\/sup>\u00a0May at 12noon <\/strong>St. Oswald\u2019s Shiney Row<\/p>\n

Monday 29th<\/sup>\u00a0May at 11.30am <\/strong>All Saints Church Penshaw<\/p>\n

Tuesday 30th<\/sup>\u00a0May at 11.30am<\/strong> St. Andrew\u2019s Chilton Moor<\/p>\n

Wednesday 31st<\/sup>\u00a0May at 11.30am<\/strong> St. Matthew\u2019s Newbottle<\/p>\n

Thursday 1st<\/sup>\u00a0June at 11.30am<\/strong> St. Barnabas Burnmoor<\/p>\n

Friday 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0June at 11.30am<\/strong> St. Michael & All Angels Easington Lane<\/p>\n

Saturday 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0June at 11.30am<\/strong> St. Cuthbert\u2019s East Rainton<\/p>\n

Sunday 4th<\/sup>\u00a0June at 4.30pm<\/u><\/strong> St. Mary\u2019s West Rainton, Pentecost All Age Praise and Worship Service (bring the bairns!)<\/u><\/p>\n

If you can\u2019t attend in person, you can pray in private each day through the \u2018novena\u2019. Take this as an opportunity to renew your own prayer life.<\/p>\n

Why not use this prayer to pray for particular individuals?<\/p>\n

Loving Father,<\/p>\n

in the face of Jesus Christ<\/p>\n

your light and glory have blazed forth.<\/p>\n

Send your Holy Spirit that I may share with my friends<\/p>\n

Strengthen me as a witness to that love<\/p>\n

as I pledge to pray for them,<\/p>\n
