Dear Friends,

🕯️ Shine Bright This Sunday 🕯️

This weekend at St Michael and All Angels’, we celebrate the Feast of Candlemas—the festival of light. We know that bringing children to church can sometimes feel like a bit of a “juggling act,” so we’ve tried to set up our services to be a space where every generation feels at home.

What to Expect for Families:

  • All Are Welcome: Children are a vital part of our community and are welcome in all our services. We’ve a special area at the side of church with activity sheets and a playmat area with toys for toddlers and babies.  Don’t worry about a bit of noise—it’s the sound of a growing church!
  • Space to Explore: Part way through the service, our older children (age 4+) can head to their own dedicated space in our mezzanine. While the “grown-ups” listen to the sermon, our ‘Young Church’ leaders help the kids explore the theme of the day through activities tailored just for them.
  • Coming Together: The children rejoin the main service afterward to receive a Blessing or share in Communion. After the service we have refreshments and time to chat with others.  It’s the perfect way to wrap up our time together as one big family.

When: This Sunday at 10am Where: St Michael and All Angels, Church Street, Houghton-le-Spring DH4 4DN

Bring the kids, and let’s celebrate the light together! 🕯️✨

With my prayers and best wishes,

Lord Jesus Christ,
light of the nations and glory of Israel:
make your home among us,
and present us pure and holy
to your heavenly Father,
your God, and our God.
Amen
