Mothers’ Union

Mothers' UnionThe Mothers’ Union focuses on Christian support of the family. Our group meets on the last Monday of the month at 2.00pm in Kepier Hall, behind the church.

“We have a thriving Mothers’ Union in Houghton with around 60 members who regularly turn up. In addition to a varied programme of speakers, we have special events like our annual lunch held in January, Summer Outing and the Harvest Home Supper in October.

We take a particular interest in the childrens and family activities in church, helping with the Mothering Sunday Service and supporting the Toddlers’ Group. Different members are involved with the Summer and Christmas Fairs, arranging the flowers in church, participating in the church cleaning rota, serving coffee on Sunday and Thursday mornings, acting as sides persons welcoming people to church, helping to administer the chalice at Holy Communion, taking Communion to local sheltered housing and working in the Children’s Society charity shop.

New members are always welcome.”
