Houghton Feast is finally here, and St Michael’s is at the heart of the celebrations all week long! We have a wonderful line-up of events to bring our community together, and we would love for you, your family and your friends to join us.
Here is everything happening over the weekend and how you can get involved:
🗓️ This Weekend’s Highlights
- Friday, 2nd October (10:00 am – 2:00 pm) | Prayer Stations: ‘We Feast Together’
Interactive ‘stations’ themed around ‘Together We Feast’ throughout Church designed to help us engage in different aspects of ‘Feast’ not just with our minds, but with our hands! Come to reflect, to pray or simply come to sit in the quiet, rest, or be still in the presence of God. - Saturday, 3rd October (from 10:00 am) | Church Coffee Morning & Market
Come along for delicious treats and refreshments, and a wander through our fantastic variety of stalls. It’s the perfect place to catch up with neighbours and support local businesses as well as looking around our historic church. - Sunday, 4th October (10:30 am) | Houghton Feast Civic Service
Join us for our traditional Civic Service as we come together as a community to celebrate the rich history and spirit of the Houghton Feast with preaching from The Reverend Canon Dr. Angus Ritchie. - Sunday, 4th October (6:00 pm) | ‘Our Favourite Hymns’ Singing Service
End the day on a high note! Come along to sing your heart out and enjoy a beautiful evening dedicated to our community’s most-loved hymns and find out what hymn gets the top spot in Houghton!

The Feast celebrations don’t stop this weekend! Tickets for our upcoming headline events are flying out the door. Don’t wait until it’s too late:
- Ceilidh
- When: Friday, 9th October | 7:30 pm – 11:00 pm
- What: A fantastic night of live music, dancing, and laughter. Perfect for all ages and experience levels! Licensed bar and food available.
- Cost: Adults £10, school-aged children £5
- Brass Band Concert
- When: Saturday, 10th October | 7:00 pm, doors open 6.30 pm
- What: An spectacular evening of top-tier musical performance celebrating our local heritage with special guest Jimmy Hayes.
- Cost: Adults £10, under 16s £8

For both tickets, pop into the Church Office (open Tues & Thurs 9am-12noon, 12.30pm – 3pm or contact us on 0191 5121769 / stmichaels.hls@gmail.com) or speak directly to Rita (for Ceilidh tickets) to secure yours before they sell out completely.
