Your wedding at St Michael’s

your church wedding

We are delighted that you would like to marry at St Michael’s.

To make arrangements for your wedding, please call Rev’d John Barron on 0191 5847657 to book an appointment or please contact the Parish Office (tel: 512 1769, mob: 07707043395) or email us.

When you arrange your wedding with us we will give you lots of information to help you plan your special day. This page here outlines what you uniquely get in a church wedding with us in Houghton-le-Spring.

You and your relationship

relationshipYou will be invited to attend a great fun, some have said hilarious, evening with other couples preparing for marriage led by a couple from the congregation. Malcolm and Sheila have been running this session for years – it is your opportunity to explore what makes you tick as a couple and have some time to consider how you will make your marriage work. You put a lot of time and effort into the Big Day – let us help you put some time into thinking about your life-long relationship together for just one evening!

Personalise your wedding

You will be invited to a special session to plan your ceremony – we can help you choose readings and hymns.

There are some extras we offer that you may wish to consider:

Flowers – Exclusive to St Michael’s:  if you order your flowers from us you will get 2 floral displays that make the most of our beautiful building in a colour of your choosing.

Wedding Flowers

Candles – if you’re having an Autumn or Winter wedding you may wish to set the church off with some beautiful candles in the aisle.

Orders of Service – we can put together your order of service for you (we’ll take away the stress of formatting and printing!). Great for your guests on the day and a nice souvenir as well. Sample orders of service are available for you to see at the office.

Reception – have you found your venue yet? Why not use the Kepier Hall – directly behind the church, it has a fully licensed bar, an outdoor verandah and it can be decorated to your specifications (image below shows a wedding layout for 130 guests). Click here to find out more.
