As part of the events in May organised by The Friends of Houghton Parish Church Trust on Monday 13th May at 7.00 pm the church will host ‘The George Whitfield Organ Concert’ Dr Gordon Stewart BEM. Gordon Stewart is one of the UK’s most popular and adaptable organists; he has played Celebrity Concerts in such places as St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Cathedral, the Laurenskerk, Alkmaar and at Symphony Hall in Birmingham, Leeds Town Hall, Melbourne Town Hall, Pietermaritzburg City Hall and Johannesburg Cathedral. Gordon has delighted his audience here at St Michael’s with a programme of popular organ music.

St Michael and All Angels Church will open to the public on Tuesday 30th April until late October.
We are open Tuesday – Saturday 11am -1pm. Please come and visit this wonderful and historic building.
**Update: The last week of Open Church in 2024 will be 8th October, please contact the church office for access until it reopens in April 2025. **
The wonderful church of St Michael & All Angels has been at the heart of our community for centuries. The Friends of the Houghton Parish Church Trust ‘The Friends’ do much to support our wonderful historic building. This year sees the 30th anniversary of The Friends of the Houghton Parish Church Trust. We’ve a wonderful program of events and services lined up in May 2024 for your diaries, details below. 13th May – 7pm The George Whitfield Organ Concert, Dr Gordon Stewart Free Entry
A moving service of prayers, hymns & Choral music performed by the St Michael & All Angel’s Choir, with readings to help us reflect upon Christ’s Passion led by Rev’d John Barron, Sunday 17th March at 6.00 pm. All are welcome.
